At least four hundred children are said to be down with the measles in Madison, Wis. Many adult3 are af flicted. The public schools have been closed. Dublin, April 27. The Marouis of Lansdowne declined to accept the pro visional arrangement made last week by the mediators engaged in 'the task of adjusting the dispute between him ana tne aissatisned tenants on his Luggacurran estate. This arrange ment gave to lease-holders Dblding un der judicial rites, and who had hither to been refused any concession, a re duction of fifteen ner cent, in their rents, instead of the twenty ner cent. they asked, and gave the non-leaseholders who had asked 30 per cent, re duction, a reduction of twenty per cent. In addition to these concessions, the mediators proposed to reinstate the tenants evicted since March 1 for non-payment of rent, upon payment of six months' dues. Among the other provisions of the arrangement was one bandits, who demand $25,000 for ? 1 c . .1.1 ' exempting tenants irom cosis in me ransom. M. J. Scanlan, a freight brakeman on the Fort Wayne railroad, was ar rested Tuesday, at Pittsburg, on a charge of robbing freight trains. This is the first arrest made outside of the wholesale arrests on the Pan Handle. Others will follow. The body of an unknown man was found in Kast Rock Reservoir, near New Haven, Conn. On the over coat was the tag "Welde New York," and in the pocket a prescrip tion signed "Dr. W. Mortier, 115 Lorimer, corner of Stagg street. Brooklyn, N. Y.'' The lock-boxes are from 6.00 a. m. to 10:30 p.m. present proceedings, and another al lowing lease holders to break their leases for the purpose of entering the courts for readjustments. The Marquis of Lansdowne's agent now declines to ratify this arrange ment, refusing to agree to any of the proposed abatements. He suggests new terms, and much bitterness is provoked by the suspicion that he has been using the negotiations merely to find out what was the utmost the ten ants would volunteer in order to place his demands a few points be.yond it and still within the limits of probable ac ceptance. Bell, of the Cumberland House, told us yesterday a hen was killed at his hotel that morning, which attracted the attention of the person preparing it, by a large number of eggs revealed upon opening. An actual count of the eggs tooted up S25. in size from a No. 8 shot to fully developed ones with the shell. Mr. Bell vouches for the truth ot this statement. To our Sisters of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, we ex tend once more our heartiest greet ing, and assure them of our readiness to assist them in every way in their glorious work.
