We havfc paid little attention ro it but simply glancing through we struck the follow ing relating to the New Testa ment : "The book was manufactured by Roman priests with u liberal use ot the real apostolic writings to give it plausibility, and has been stupidly accepted by Protestants, but the ablest researches of Protestant di vines have shown that it is destitute of authenticity. 'That the pulpit still dogmatical ly proclaims the ltible to be the "Word of God" onlv show? th;t the pulpit needs a conscience, and that fidelity to history is not one of its v irtues." Such is the doctrine promul gatedbv "the Missionary' and his association. May our peo- ill in v inr "yi'i' many Others, want a new road fromthe Farmville road, some wherte from near the race track, acrosy the Moore and Higgs lands to the old plank road near the college or depot. It is badly needed and would be a great convenience. The lands through which it would pass woujfo ke benefitted and not damaged. Why not have it : y-xhere is so much that can be said in its favor that we leave it to the public for discussion. It, would save the people from a" huge section of the county, the trouble of traveling a piece of very bad road most of the year : it would shorten the distance tn the deKt ; it would open up some land that if then ndd otT in town lots would be very de suable; and it would be a ben efit to the traveling public. Our people seem wrong. The country is wrong. The laws are wrong. Everything seems somewhat wrong, but wrong cannot be righted by repetition of wrong. And the Florida husband who found his wife and another, man in bed togeth er in his house, at once saw that was wrong, and rightly proceed ed to righteu the said wrong bv paying his respects to that man with well directed shots, and the result of that wrong right ed was another despoiler oT a home fatallv shot. The wife claimed the man in bed with her was there to pro tect her from burglars, but the husband believed not in that kind of protection, and pro ceeded to vindicate his honor in the approved manner, for Our views relative to train con nections at Kinston, have met the approval of the public. A lengthy petition, signed by our beat citizens here, and in other parts ot the county, has been forwarded to the authorises at Wilmington and we have strong hopes that a little change in schedules will be made,. so that our people can make the trip trom here 'to Morehead the same dav without having to spend a day in Kinston, and that they may also be able to make the return trip, without like inconvenience. We hope soon to be able to announce such a schedule as in operation. The Patron and Gleaner warns the people against a tramp claim inn to be a New Yorker, and a stu dent from college trying to raie I money, to return and complete his , education, by enlarging pictures. It j says he is too old for college and ' that a conversation with him showed him to be a bad. degraded, specimen j of human tn-ing. Look ouf for ' . . . . i such a man ami Me war- lnm.
