To the Officers and Members of the Seventy-first Regiment N. C. State Troops (Second Junior Reser ves). Judge Walter Clark, after years of earnest labor, born of his love for the soldiers of North Carolina, who made the state immortal in historv has not quite completed the work of gathering and editing sketches of the regiments which constituted that soldiery. A sketch of the above reg iment must be furnished him at an early date, to secure its incorpotion in the publication authorized by the Legislature. The undersigned, with Capt. D E. McKinne, were chosen to prepare this sketch, but find we have not the data available for such purpose. I therefore call upon the officers and members of old Second Junior to come to our aid enable us to have recorded in permanent form a sketch that will at least convey to those who are to come after know ledge of our participation in that glorious cause. The regimental officers were John H. Anderson, colonel; N. A. Greg ory, major. The companies were from Cleve land, Gaston, Burke, Mecklenburg and Rowan, Cabarrus, Duplin, Pitt, Wilson, Wayne, Edgecombe, Samp son, Hyde and perhaps some other-. Moore's Roster only gives three of the compaiv.es. and we miut no call upon tlio-r surviving to aid in completing, 5 lar as rr.ar be. the record. Photographs of officer ar.d ir.cn. taken unrip.-' the war or immediate ly thereafter, are wanted also. We will tha k any officer or mem ber of the old Second Junior ior any information, of membership or in cidents. It is upon such assistance entirely that we must depend for having the regiment properly repre sented in the history now beinjj pre by Judge C ark. Communications may be addressed to Capt. David E. McKinne, Princeton, Johnston county, or to ROBT. M. FURMAN, Care of The Morning Poet, Raleigh. (I will esteem it a great favor if the press of the State will give the above a few insertions. R. M. The Roanoke Railroad and Lumber Co. want te locate a large plant here, if Greenville will pull down its Chin eso wall. Will it do ? The location cf the plant here means anywhere from $1,500 to $2, 500 paid out here per week or from $6,000 to $10,000 per month and a big increase in population. Does Greenville want it ? TRAINS DELAYED. The draw of the railroad bridge got out of fix Friday evening txr.d both the mail and freight trains were delayed until after eight o'clock that night.
