Willow Grove Track, Pa., Aug.
7. The first serious accident of- the
League of American Wheelmen race
meeting occurred here this morning
while the men were doing their- pre
liminary runs. The electricians had
just; lowered the electric light iron
arm when Bly, of Northampton, Mass.,
came down the stretch full tilt and ran
into the obstruction. He was piGked4
up, unconscious and the physicians
pronounce his injuries of a serious
nature. He was carried to the German
Hospital. The machine was complete
ly demolished. -

in this city yesterday. Many build

Some thief made a bad attempt at
burglarizing Oscar Pearce's Store on
last night. At the back - end of the
store there is a ' double door, and oh
the lower panel of one side of the door
the attempt was made, the burglar
using . an auger to . bore holes in it.

as none of the holes went through the

Mr. Pearce's, says he heard his dogs
