High Point, Nov. 29. A new Enter prlttfor thjs placo is the Welch Fur niture Compaaj, organized this week. Capital stock 25,000, with privilege of increasing. Officers: President, W. P. Pickett; vice-president, R. B. Strickland; secretary and treasurer, J. W. Harris; directors, J. J. Welch, W. P. Pickett and R. B. Strickland. The vacant lot opposite High Point Mantle and Table Company's plant has been secured for site. Work will commence at early date. The Home Lyceum met this week at the home of Dr. J. J. Cox and spent an enjoyable evening. The following officers were elected: President, Prof. George H. Crowell; vice-president, Mrs. 6. L. Davis; secretary, Miss Cor nelia Roberson; treasurer, Miss Min nie Alexander. Mr. Nerius Hodson has been carried to the sanitarium at Salisbury, where he is being ireated for peritonits. Building is going on in every part of tha town. The following is a par tial list of the houses being erected: Mr. J. Elwood Cox, residence, on Greene street. Mr. C. C. Walker, re sidence, on Lindsay street; two dwell ing houses for M. E. J. Hester in southern part of town; engine and dy namo house for High Point Machine Works; Mr. C. B. Cumming, dwelling, on Greene street; plant of Tomlinson Chair Compnny; Mr. W. B. Vail, re sidence, on South Main street; Turner & Matton, store house building, Main street; Mr. J. B. Ridge, dwelling, Tate street; Mr. E. T. Hedrick, residence, South Main street; Mr. M. S. Russell, house, Russell street; large plant for High Point Metallic Bed Co.; Mr. V. F. Crouch, dwelling, Mechanicsville; Mr. I, T. Hedrick, dwelling, Tate strest; five brick offices for J. H. Johnston, Thomasville street; work shops on N. C. Jarrell property, Fac tory street; dwelling for Mr. C. B. Grimes in northern part of town; two dwellings for Mr. W. B. Steele, Fac tory street; Brick building, 100x60 feet, High Point Shirt Manufacturing Company; residence at Normal and Industrial school. Others are being planned. Miss Turner, of Greensboro, is visiting Miss Clara Hamner. Miss Annie Tomlinson is here to spend a few days. Mr. Harry Nissen, of Washington, spent last night here. Mr. R. B. Wessels has gone to San ford, where he has been tendered a po sition with the Sanford Furniture Company. At a meeting of the board of dir ectors of the High Point, Randleman and Asheboro Railroad held here this week the old board was re-elected. Little Miss Irene Sapp remains quite sick. She has fever. Mr. E. H. C. Field has purchased from Mr. J. M. Sechrest a vacant lot on Main street. In the rear Mr. Field will erect stables. The Youth Companion's Sevmtj-Fifth Tar.
