The opera doum -tane was decorated with flower and plants. The High School chorus, com- p-ed of about a hundred girl of the I bool occupied Hera of seat imaged vn the stage jasmin the rear of the graduating class. After a song by the chorus. The Dance of the Fairies," Dr. J. I Maaa introduced the speaker of the ocrasioa, H. W. Chase, professor of padajegy of the State University. Prof. Chase made a scholarly address, in which he brought out many beautiful thoughts. He spoke of the that anay pee- pie often pointed to the old tine achoob ana me success 01 uwee wno aiiroaeo i them, asking why couldnt the present generation be taught by the same meth-fd-. The old methods if in use now would be an utter failure, be said, be cause of the fact that social conditions had changed and the system of education nntt be changed to meet the changed - ial conditions. He declared that in a tew years the methods of educatioa u.uld be entirely different from what ,ey are today and h urged the mem ','r of the graduating class and others recent to begin to prepare for the- changed methods. He pointed out the i.ut that all could not be taught by the .virae methods sad under the same sys tem and eited the schools ia which ear- 1 tam. - AtuOkes are CMiiwaed-ia ait Ua I needs of the Individual" scholars. Some I are taught agriculture, some raeehanica, tome physics,' others commercialism, etc. If -the system of education cannot form character it is a dismal failure, said Prof. Chase, and the same is true if it does not teach the students to work. Those who. receive the best instruction possible under the methods in vogue owe it to their town to put forth their lx?t efforts to serve the interest of ti.eir town. If the system of educattoo iis not teach boys and girls to work ;.,r bigger and higher things it is a fail ure. Turning to the graduate Prof, (base said "much has been done for you and much is now to be expected of you." After a semi-chorus, "Old Kentucky Home," by a chorus of soma two dorea boys and girls Superinteadent Man a arose and presented the priiea and di plomas.
