Hicks, chairman of the committee of grade mother*, re ceived a rising vote of thanks from hfce member-« of he r untiring efforts in seeing that sandwiches and fruit were provided each day for the chil dren. these were given by the mem ber*. while the necmaiy milk and soap W 4.-. paid for by th association funds Mrs Ralph Thompson. chairman of the ways and means committee, was in<4 iu«uuital in helping to raise a good part of the money. She and l*er committee worked hard to make a surcea* of the fall festival which was held in October for this purpose. Un L. R. Gooch, of the program committee, prepared an entertaining program for each meeting. The fin est oi these was the Washington birthday celebration, in which the chil dren of the school took part in the spiea«hd pageant of the life of Gaorge Wesbiogtofx. this was coached by the teachers who were praised for the<ir fine work The otherruaimittee chairnoum and ♦ hair commit tee gave good reports of their year's activities; and all the mamher* cooperated in making the year 1931-32 a fine one in the history as the association. Virginia. 100 acres of tend near Hicks' Cross Roads for $lO and other considerations PRAYER MEETING IS LARGELY ATTENDED The regular Monday afternoon lay men's prayer meeting was held yes terday afternoon at Hedy Innocents Episcopal church, and was one of the most largely attended sessions of any recent week. The meeting, as usual, consisted only of singing of hymns, reading of Scripture passage* and prayers. On next Monday afternoon the meeting will be held in the First Methodist church. The public is In vited to all the services. PAUL GREEN’S PLAY GIVEN AT OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY Chapel Hill. May 24. Ohio State University will stage a North Caro lina folk play, written at the Univer sity of North Carolina, us one of the feature entertainments of this year's summer school. The play is “Tread the Green [ Grass.” Paul Green. professor of \ philosophy at Carolina, is the author, and the music was written by Latnar Stringfield. research associate in the Institute of Folk Music.
