PAGE TWO First Defeat For M. P. Baracas LEAGUE’S LEADERS SHUT OUT BT LIONS Walks and Errors Contribute To Downfall of Sunday School Boys The Lion* Club (landed the M P. Baracaa their first defeat of the sea son yeeterdaj jt League Park in the final game of the CMty League for the week, by net allowing a single Sun day school man to score. The'final count was 5 to 0 in favor of the Lions Walks and errors played an Import ant part in the downfall of th* M. P.'s along with passed balls. The Sunday school team started things off in a big way in the first frame. Bill Hight grounded out. short to first. Fox walked: C. Finch struck out but Baity sent a single to center and went to second on tbe play for Fox at third base. Boyd ended the Inning by striking out. The Lions' first run came in the second frame after two w«r f out Holland walked and Henry Hight was safe on Clyde Finch's error at first and Bill Royster scored Holland with a fluke hit just back of third The Baraca nine made another strong bid for a score in the fourth when walks and one hit manCMFVVY when three walks and hit were made. Baity opened the Inning with a free pas to first and Boyd attempt ed to sacrifice but missed and Baity was caught off first base. Boyd walk ed and Holloway got a single over second: Burgess walked to fill the bases with one man down. A. Finch grounded to the pitcher to force Boyd at the plate and Blennie Hight ended the inning by retiring on three strikes The fifth inning was a rout of the church team, the Lions scoring four runt. The big fellow was generous with his pass es to first base allowing ix. The bulls got seven hits for 3 runs and a 3 to 4 victory. Tourist Win Easily Four hit pitching of Dick Bass en abled the Asheville Tourists to take their ninth straight game from the Wilmington Tars last night 11 to 2. Asheville goes into a tie for tap po sition with Raleigh as a result of this win and the Caps lost to Durham. Pats Win In Ninth The Winston Salem Twins tied the score with the Greensboro Patriots last night in the ninth inning of the Parts home ground but the Greensboro team broke it in their half of the ninth by adding one run to take a 4 to 3 victory. Kleinhans struck out nine Twins. Bees Lose Charlotte Bees lost to High Poln4.'s Pointers last night in the Furniture city. 9 to 6 in the firs-t game of the week-end series.
