Tanner Roofing Co. ts Snavely Pushes Tar Heels Hard For Deacon Encounter No Let-Up in Carolina Preparations for Hard Opening This Will Be Last Game Carolina Plays at Home Until Last Week In October Chapel Hill, Sept. 26.-Carolina sup porters Saturday will get their first, last and only chance to see the Tat Heels in action on tneir home field until the last week in October, ex actly a month away. The Tar Heels clash with the Demon Deacons in Kenan Stadium at 2:30 o clock. Following the Wlake Forest encoun. ter the Blue and White will be away for three successive week-ends, at Tennessee, Maryland and Davidson in order. Not until October 26 when Georgia Tech comes to the Hill in a Homecoming affair will Carolina play at home again. And those fans who think that the Tar Heels will not open up MaturCay are sadly fooling themselves. Coach Snavely is making detailed plans to AN SS Short Drill Under Lights At Riddick Field Friday Ends Week’s Work College Station, Raleigh, Sept. 26. A ehort practice tomorrow night in Riddick Stadium will conclude State College’s practice for its season open, er Saturday evening with Davidson at Greensboro. Greensboro officials have announc ed that the game will start at 8 o’clock. It will play in Memorial Sta dium. After the Wolfpack has run a few plays tomorrow night, and has taken a final look at Davidson s offense both ground and aerial —Coach Hunk Anderson will call it a night. A similar program will greet the Wolves in their work tonight. The practice, however, will be longer and will include another session on block ing. Coach Anderson believes the Wolves will block better this year than they did a year ago. Captain Barnes Worth, right guard, and Steve Sabol, fine all-Southern center will lead the Wolfpack in i.s battle’with the Wildcats. They are the only men starting Saturday night who were in the starting line-up last year. Sabol is ranked among the na tion’s best centers. Coach Anderson hopes his sopho mores will come through against Davidson with the same brand of play they exhibited this past winter in off season drills. “If they do we should beat Davidson by one touchdown,' Anderson paid. Whistler, the artist was trying to help a fellow-artist out by getting his picture displayed at the exhibi tion. Hot with rage, Whistler’s friend came rushing to him with the story his picture was hung on the wall, but upside down! “Hush!” said Whist ler to him,“ let it stay that way it was refused a place the other way.” above. They are, left to right: Hunk Anderson, head coach of the Wolf pack;, Ed Kosky, fend coach; and Frank Reese, backfield coach. And erson and Kosky are starting their second year at State. Reese came to State in 1931. Sole U.S. Agents: BROWNE VINTNERS CO t , Inc., New York • Chicago ■ Los Angeles ©1935 turn on the heat against the strongly fortified Deacons. To watch the prac tice sessions of the Tar Heels one would think the Carolina mentor is preparing for either Tennessee or Maryland or Duke, passing of course, is holding the biggest attention of his work. The Carolina scouts who witnessed the Duke-Wake Forest clash brought back reports which set the Tar Heels to honest-to-goodness work. Bert Shore piled up many of the Duke end runs; Captain Park Reinhardt, play ed bang-up ball at center; Walt Kit chin fired away with astounding ac curacy with his passes; Tex Edens punted the oval with an average in the forties. Such things as these do not point to an easy victory for Car olina. TodayfCdmes AMERICAN LEAGUE Washington at New York. Only games scheduled. NATIONAL LEAGUE Chicago at St. Louis.
