TOWNSVILLE TOPS SOUTH IL, 10 TO 2 Lefty Breedlove Complete Boss of Virginians in Sunday Game The Townsville Bees whipped South Hill Sunday 10 to 2 in South Hill in a Virginia-Carolina league game. Lefty Breedlove was on the mound for the winners, and he allowed only one safe -bingle during his six innings on the hill. He fanned 12 men. Adams took over the hurling duties at that that stage, and allowed four hits while fanning three South Hill bat ters. WILLOWS TO PLAY FRANKLINTON HERE Weeping Willows will play Frank linton at South Henderson baseball park tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 o’clock, according to Baird C. Barnes, manager of the club. DAILY DISPATCH, TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 1936 QUALIFYING PLAY BEGINS ON JUNE 14 All Uolters at Local Club Urged to Qualify for Annual Tournament Qualifying rounds for the annual club championship tournament for West End Country Club will get. un derway over the club's course next Monday, and will continue through Sunday, June 14, it has been stated. No conceded puts will be allowed in qualifying scores, and stymies will not be played in the tournament. The tournament will be played the following week, June 15 to 21 inclu sive and prizes will be awarded at a supper Monday evening, June 22, at which the ladies of the members will be invited. All golfers were urged to qualify as there are prizes given in eacih flight, and for consolation matches. The tournament will be in charge of t!he Tournament Committee com posed of E. F. Shaw, chairman, O. T. Kirkland, captain of the golf team, and C. O. Seifert, president of the Golf Club. Captain Kirkland to Lead Henderson Aganst R.G.A. Team Captain O. T. Kirkland will lead the Henderson Golf Club team against Raleigh Golf Association linksmen in Raleigh tomorrow afternoon with the 18 hole match getting underway at 2 o’clock. With the closing of a number of stores here on Wednesday afternoon, the ranks of the Henderson team will be swelled with a number of business men leaving their business houses. Nanking Denies War Is Declared Upon Japan by South China Government (Continued froto Page One.) branded the Japanese report as “pro paganda.” Chinese authorities in Shanghai stated the relations at the present time betweeen Canton and Nanking had “never been better.” They added, “Canton and Nanking are on the verge of a complete union.” Recent indication from South China !had been that the Chinese in that area, long politically opposed to the Nanking government, sought military opposition to the continued infiltraion of Japanese from Formosa. The southern Chinese, particularly the students, passed resolutions ask ing that Nanking take steps to block the increased Japanese military ad vances in North China. NOTICE.
