These two groups have also joined HENDERSON, (N. C.) DAILY DISPATCH TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 1938 in promotion of travel to Ocracoke Island, because one of the most direct ways to get to this Island is United States Highway 264, which runs from Raleigh through Wilson, Greenville, Washington and Belhaven into Swan Quarter, where a ferry operates to Ocracoke. Chairman of the Washington com mittee is Edwin Harding, of Washing ton, and he and his associates are do ing fine work, says Mr. Pickard. Within the past few days the Wash ington Chamber of Commerce has giv en the Beaufort county committee its approval, and the trade body’s board of directors have announced they will act as an advisory group to Mr. Hard ing and his associates. Mr. Pickard points out that this makes every mem ber of the Washington Chamber of Commerce an dex-officio member of the hospitality committee. The Lenoir county unit, headed by J. F. Parrott, Jr., is also beginning to get busy, Mr. Pickard said, and has enlisted the assistance of the Kinston Junior Chamber of Commerce. MORE FRESH EGGS TO PUBLIC SOUGHT College Station, Raleigh, Fe'b. 22; — North Carolina poultrymen will join in a nationwide effort this spring to get more fresh eggs from the farm to the consumer, C. F. Parrish, exten sion poultry specialist at State College, declared today. Purpose of this united effort, he ex plained, is to decrease the number of eggs going into surplus stocks.
