It may lose a few congressional seats, which will disconcert it a bit, but that is all, in all likelihood. On the opposite hand, the Repub licans arc so smacked down that their morale is shattered. In short, the Democrats can split, and their major wing still will out class united Republicanism plus such seceding Democrats as it may scoop in. Such, at least, are the indications. Two Forces. The fact is, we no longer have a Democratic and a Republican party, in the old : mse. We have New Dealers, and, rela tively, conservatives. Our conservatives are not as con servative as conservatives used to be —an item to be taken into considera tion. Nearly the whole of the prunes of commerce come from France. In Mattson Hoax Frank Olson, farm laborer, who confessed to Tacoma, Wash., polico that he was the kidnap-murderer of 30-year-old Charles Mattson, is pic tured above.
