The commencement exercises begin tomorrow, and last through Monday. Come From The Citadel Jack and Tommy Jenkins were ex pected to arrive today frorp, the Citadel, in Charleston, S. C. Jack has completed his four-year course, but because of the infantile paralysis epidemic in the city of Charleston, commencement exercises were omit ted, and the students leave the school as soon as they finish their examina tions. Daughters Os America Hold State Convention The 13 th annual conference of the State Council of North Carolina, j Daughters of America, was opened | in Raleigh yesterday with the Hotel Carolina as headquarters. Mrs. Mary E. Tankersley, of Hen derson, State Councillor, presided over all sessions of the meeting which opened at 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The banquet followed at 7 o’clock and election of officers was held during the business session to day. Highlight of the program was the banquet last evening at which the National Councillor, Mrs. Emma Cal houn, spoke after introducing other National officers attending. Edwards, who gave a reading; Julia Maria Adams, in a dance sketch; Mrs. Ella Hopkins, pianist; and Mrs. W. D. Lee, chorister. Mrs. Tankersley presented the State officers at the banquet, and the national officers were introduced by Mrs. Calhoun.
