Knott is a very remarkable man and has amassed a fortune from farming. He adopted the plan "be fore the war" of "living at home." He says that no farmer can succeed who does not raise all of his supplies first and then make all the market crop possible; that there is no hope for the farmer who raises his on a crop lein." As to conventions or resolutions putting up price of tobacco or any other products Mr. Knott has little patience. He thinks the farmers have this in their own hands, sinmlv to make their supplies first, and if they do this that the tobacco and cotton crops will necessarily be very much reduced. Smaller crops of tobacco and cotton will alone raise prices. Come again, Mr. Knott, we like you and your methods. As a cure for rheumatism Chamberlain's Pain Balm is gaining a wide reputation. D. B. A First-class Troupe. By odds the best minstrel show ever seen in Henderson was that of the San Francisco Minstrels at Cooper Opera House last Friday evening. It was strictly hrst-class and up-to-date m every way. 1 he opening nrst part presented a brilliant picture sump tuous in its appointments, unique in character, correct as to detail. The jckes were good, the songs catchy, the work of the end men line. The second part, however, introduc ing the specialty acts is wherein lies tne strength of the San traucisco Minstrels and their claims to premier- snip among similar organizations. Each act was a feature in itself and each individual performer will be re membered for some of the cleverest work ever seen upon this stage. Beauvias, the one-arm contortionist and slack wire artist, is a whole show in himself. His work was exceedingly clever, as was that of Hugh McVev, the club juggler, whose act surpassed anything of the kind'ever seen here. Cook and Hall the musical mcnarchs. were very fine and pleased the audi ence immensely. George L. Piatt, the phenomenal male alto, was great, not only as a singer with a rare and sing'ularly sweet voice, but also as a female im personator. John Goss, comedian and novelty artist, was very clever and his work was highly appreciated. James Carroll, in his silent fun and knock about act, was one of the finest. The performance concluded with a roaring. break-neck act by Edmonds and Co- daire, in comedy acrobatic specialties, introducing the "mysterious house," which sent the crowd home with a favorable and lasting impression of these two actors and the San Fran cisco Minstrels.
