Goodson Dead The End Came Unexpectedly at Her Home in Kinston Sunday Morn ing. The sad tidings of the death' of Mrs. J. W. Goodson, at her home-in Kinston, at 10 o'clock Sunday morn ing, carried sorrow to the hearts of many persons in Henderson who knew and loved her well. Mr. Good-; son-4ived in Henderson several years ago, being engaged in the tobacco bnsiness, and his wife and children spent one summer here with him. Both had many friends among our people who feel a sense of personal bereavement at the sad visitation that has taken the beloved wife and mother from this happy home. Their oldest daughter, Miss Nannie Good son, visited friends in Henderson only a few weeks ago and shortened her stay to go home and be with her mother who had just returned from a hospital in Baltimore. Mrs. Good son had been operated on for appen dicitis and was apparently getting on very well when hemorrhagic fever complicated with other diseases de veloped and this terminated her life. Ilie body was taken to Durham and buried Monday afternoon. The funeral was held from Trinity Metho dist church, Dr. R. C. Beaman con- d,u?nS the service, assisted by Dr. J. yj-fV"" aIlt 1Jr- A. lateS. "e take the following from the Durham Sun Mrs. Anna Walker Goodson was a srood and lovable Christian woman, and was 40 years of age. She was the youngest daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Alex Walker, and for a number of rears was a most efficient member of the Durham Graded School facnlty, and also did school work in Kinston. On the 13th of December, 1882, she was united in marriage to Mr. J. W. son, oi Laewen county, who at .that time had come to Durham to reside." and lived here until about three vears aero. when the family moved to Kinston. Of this union there are three children, Will Lex, Nannie and Margaret, who mourn her loss with a devoted husband. Be sides these she leaves four brothers and three sisters, who avvagain called upon to feel the heavy haiflfl of affliction. r Mrs. Goodson was one of our most fondly loved ladies. With a bright smile and cheering words for all with whom she came in contact, ehe had tenderly and firmly entwined the tendrils of love and affection around their hearts both in Kinston, and in this city, where she lived many years and was so long en gaged in graded school work, for which ene was so eminently ntted. In her de mise the Death Angel removes one for whom life apparently held so much. The whole of Durham mourns her death, and its great sympathetic heart goes out to tne bereaved husband, children and rela tives. ' Call not back the dear departed, Anchored safe where stcrnis are o'er, On the border land we left her, ftoon to meet and part no more. Far beyond Ihe world of change, t ar beyond tins world of care. We shall find our missing loved one. in our father s mansion fair. Given Up to Die. B.Speigel, 1204 N.Virginia St., Evansville, Ind.,' writes: "For over five years I was troubled ,,,with kidney affections which caused me much pain and worrv. I lost flesh " and was and all run down, and a year ago had to abandon work entirely. I had three of the best physicans who did me no good and I was practically given up to die. Fole'ys Kidney Cure was recommended and -the first bottle gave me great relief, and after taking the second I wasentirely cured." The editor of Gold Leaf acknowl edges the receipt of an invitation to be present at a Brunswick stew and barbecue to be given at Mush Island farm, near Weldon, 'Friday, Aug. 17, 1906. complimentary to Dr. I. E. -Green. To sav that the function will be "given under the auspices of Mr. A. E. Wilson, the occasion being the birthday of Dr. Green, is enough to assure its perfect success and enjoya ble nature. From time immemorial Weldon lias held the championship record for rockfish muddle, nor, is it one whit behind when it comes" to Brunswick stew and barbecue. We find ourself somewhat embar rassed and almost wish that we had been overlooked when the invitations were being sent out. How ean we resist the temptation of such a feast! Think of it! Brunswick stew and bar becue! And at old Weldon, too! As Senator Vance said on one occasion our stomach is with you, boys, but our presence is demanded elsewhere. And we cannot divideour forces. But if Dr. Gee, and Mack Long, and "Tody',' Edwards, and a host of others of the old guard were still in the flesh; or if Tom Emery, and Jim Gooch, and "Squire" Joe Evans, yet retained the capacity for eating that they once carried about with them we'd have no fears that the dinner would be done full justice to even though we cannot be there. A world of troth in a few words: "Nearly all other cough cures are constipating, especially those containing opiates. Kenedy's Laxa tive Honey and Tar moves the bowels. Con tain no opiates."
