Mnlii (irpi), Druggists Hickory, N. C. k Seven Springs News. Seven Spring, Sept. 10.—Wei 1 , I firuess the readers of the Demo crat would like to hear some thing from Luke Lightning this morning. Everything is quiet around the springs this morning. A couple of days sunshine. It makes a fellow feel mighty good to see the sun shines. If the boys want to be on the winning side they must vote the Democratic ticket the 6th of November. The people must have an honest and intelligent government. Intelligent and in corruptible men must be sent t3 the legislature. Mr. M. H. Yount is the man to vote for, according to my gumption. Well the times have fallen to us in pleasant places. The springs is the best and liveliest little place all out. of doors. Its citizens are so nice and sweet— especially the ladies. What- one can't see, hear, and learn around the springs is torn out of the book. We have a whole worjd. It's said it takes all sorts of folks to make a world, and we have other things in proportion, ex cept it be ice, and that we have in winter. To the voters of Catawba coun ty. Don't allow yourselves to be duped with the cry, "That corn whiskey will make times better." How is it possible that a sensible man can preach such a conclusion? How can the li censed saloon increase the busi ness prosperity of the country. Here is a traffic that takes thous ands of dollars from our people and gives them nothing. Yea, worse than nothing in return. A traffic that produces drunken ness, idleness, rags, disease and death; a traffic that can point its bonev fingers to three-fourths of the poverty stricken homes, co four-fifths of the ignorance, crime and pauperism of the land —a traffic that can point to the sots and .tramps, and to nine tenths of the worthless and de praved young men, and say: All this is my work; this is what I am doing for your country. And then with all this before our eyes to be told that the whiskey ti af fic is the one thing needful to bring prosperity to the State of North Carolina. The father of lies himself should hide his face for very shame when he goes be fore men with such a statement as this. Amen.. 1 Misses Georgie Ekard and Mamie Smith, and sister, Miss Hattie, all of Mountain Creek, were at the springs Sunday - ing a nice time. J. R. McKinis, of Catawba R. F. D. 2, was at the springs Sun day. Ed Drum and wife and Tat Caldwell and his best girl were at the springs Sunday drinkinp good mineral water. They art all from the Little Mountain sec tion. Mr. Charlie Pope and wife an four children, of Hickory, ar visiting Mrs. Pope's parents,Mi and Mrs. Gilbert McKinis at Ca tawba. Subscribe for THE DEMOCRAT and keep posted. Luke Lightning. CONSUMPTION PREVENTABLE DISINFECTION IMPORTANT. BMvlta Obtained In a Largo Institution. sThe5 The importance of disinfection is shown T the results obtained at the Brooklyn ome for Consumptives, the finest institu tion of the kind in New York. A letter from the President is quoted: "We hare used Piatt's Chlorides in the Brooklyn Home for Consumptives for more than ten years, and find it not only a com. fort but a necessity. Through its use we defy the germs' to make any inroads on the nurses and employees who are in con stant attendance upon the sick, one Ann. drert of whom are now in the institution.* One nurse has been there well on to ten years, a second almost as long, and not one person ever employed in the Home ha', de- ■ ▼eloped lung trouble "—Mrs. S.
