Davis, of Charlotte, has been called as pastor by ' Boone and Blowing Rock Baptist churches. He expects to move • to Boone in December and will divide his time between the two churches. 3 Some complaint has been made in this county about game being 5 shipped out of the state. Mr. Upchurch, of Raleigh, is now in B the country looking after the the matter. The late Mr. J. H. Carson, of Charlotte, bequeathed SI,OOO to the Lees-Mcßae Institute at Ban -3 ner Elk. . The oldest horse perhaps in the country is owned by Mr. Hugh Mcßae, of Wilmington, and is kept by Mr: Watt Farth > ing who lives near Boone. It is a large calico horse and is now about thirtv years old, but is still strong and apparently in good ) health, and is occusionally seen 5 in Boone. The public entertainment giv en by the Enterpean Literarv Society of A.. T. S. on Thanks giving night was considered a success. A large crowd was in attendance, quite a number of d people having come from a dis tance. B. G.
