There ha? been some corruption in her ath 'etic department, caused by tak ing professional players in-school who, although they helped make a strong team, pulled down the moral standard. This year Lenoir College has made a step in advance of most other colleges in that she has d«ne away with all vagabonds or Mred players and requires that all who play on the team must b* "bonefied" students with a good class standing. This speaks well for Lenoir College especial ly when we are aware that she has or will have almost as strong a team as ever. The J/enoir College Athletic Association has everything a - ranged systematically and will do its work decently and in order. There will be many nice and interesting games played at Le noir College this spring at which we hope to see many of our Hicl - ory people. Cora mend us to the former. ~ Work lends dignity to a pretty girl, it an added charm to her. The girl who works, God bless her, com bines the useful and ornamental. Such are the salt of the earth and of such is the kingdom of heaven. It is not easy to learn to keep a household account book all at once. A young husband gave his wife a neat little account book prettily bound and design ed to be inviting in appearance. He also gave her fifty dollars, and said: "I want you to put down what I give you on this side, aqd on the other write down tne way it goes, and in two weeks I will give you another supply." Two weeks later he her asked for the book. "Oh, I have kept that account," said the young matron; "here it is:" And on one page was in scribed: "Received from Fred fifty dollars," and on the oppo site was this summary, "Spent I-all."
