To the People I have been authorized by the proper authorities to secure op tions on several" tracts of land suitable for an orphanage. At the next session of the Confer ence, which will meet in about a month, definite action will be taken toward the, establishing of an orphanage for all the territory west of Greensboro. As Hick ory is about the center of this territory, and noted for its heal thy climate, I feel sure that if the proper effort is made the or phanage will be located here. This will mean a great deal for Hick ory as there will ultimately be from three to four hundred chil dren, the support of whom must come from the Conference at large. The land needed must not b less than 100 acres, part of it either on the railroad or in very plain view of it. A considerable portion should be wood land and a small stream running through it would be an advantage. It should not be further than two miles from the center of town. Parties having such tracts for sale, will please communicate with me at once. 1 G. F. Ivfcy. Mr. A. H. McCorub Dies in Hickory. The death of Mr. A. H.
