SUPPLEMENT TO THE HICKORY DEMOCRAT Thursday, March 12,1908. "Not Guilty" is Verdict Sam Green and Oma Grier were put on triar at Lenoir for their lives March 2nd. The effort of the prosecution was to prove that Lawrence Nelson was killed by Green and the girl Oma Grier, on the railroad near Hugh Clark's and carried about two miles to the place where the body was found. Both the State and the defendants were ably represented, although the solici tor was absent. The speeches were of a high order. The jury to whom the case went Friday afternoon, was one of the best ever selected in that county, It was unable to reach a decision until Saturday morning when it brought id .a verdict of not guilty. ' The defendants were set at liberty and Vickers and Kendall trill remain in the peni tentiary for the commission of the crime. Another of Editor's Troubles Goldsboro Headlight. By an oversight of our mailing clerk, a certain professional man of this city was allowed to "run behind" six months on his sub scription to The Headlight. Up on discovery, the bill of 50 cents was presented to him but he re fused to pay, and did not want the paper any longer. Sunday, two weeks ago, happened to step into a certain church in the citv and our debtor's melodious voice ' rang out loud and clear in a soul stirring song, "jesus Paid It All." We might have been mis taken but his earnestness impres sed US. The next day we sent him a receipt in full, begging his pardon for not knowing he had made an assignment of his liabi lities to the Lord. \ The campaign in North Carolina now to rid the State of the saloon and still is a campaign for mother hood and childhood—it is a fight for the safety and purity of the home and every man who loves the home and all that it stands for is called on to line up in this great battle on the side of the home. All the blood in the body passes thro the kidneys once every three minutes.. The kidneys filter the blood. They work night and day. When healthy they remove about 500 grains of impure mat ter daily, when unhealthy some part of this impure matter is left in the blood. This brings on many diseases and symp toms —pain in the back, headache, nervousness, hot, dry skin, rheuma tism, gout, gravel, disorders of the eye sight and hearing, dizziness, irregular heart, debility, drowsiness, dropsy, de posits in the urine etc. But if you keep the filters right you will have no trouble with your kidneys. M. G. Crouch, living on 10th Ave., Hickory, N. C., says: "For some time prior to using Doan's j Kidney Pills, I had been suffering from , a dull ache through the small of my back j and failed to find a remedy that would ; give me relief. Hearing Doan's Kidney j Pills so highly spoken of I procured a box at Menzie's Drug Co. and began | their use in strict accordance with the directions I had taken theyi but a short time when the pain in my Dack disap peared, and other symptoms of my tronb le were corrected. I have had no return of my former trouble since, and give Doan's Kidney Pills the credit." For sale by all dealers. Price 50c.
