The Peach Tree Mining Co., under the management of B. V. Hedrick, a former merchant in Spencer, has opened a rich vein of gold in Catawba county, ten miles south of Catawba station, which is yielding 125 tons of raw ore per day, panning 75 cents to the ton. The vein is 1,5000 wide, several miles long and with an unknown depth. The company, which owns several thousand acres adjacent to the new mine, has just installed anew Eraman gold-washing machine with a ca pacity of 100 tons per day.
