She was 57 * years old and had been a long ' suffer from a cancer. She leaves 3 a husband and two children. The Oxford orphans gave a ' delightful concert in the academy ' of music Tuesday night and : and were greeted by a large au dience. Fisher who has been visiting Miss Nina Ramsey will teach music in Hickory this winter, she has been in London, England the past eighteen months studying music under Mr. H. Lyell Taylor. A delegation left here Monday for Newmarket, Va., to attend the meeting of the Tennessee Synod of the Lutheran church, which convenes on Wednesday and continues over Sunday. Among the number were Revs. J. C. Moser, W. A. Deaton and C. L. Miller. Dr. Murphy closed an inter esting series of meetings at Rrookford last Sunday afternoon Several united with the church and many were revived. The Sunday services were especially interesting. Officers were or dained and installed, members were received into the church, infants were baptised and the holy communion administered. lhe Menzie drug store has been bought by Messrs. C. A. Moser and 11. C. Lutz and they now have charge of the business Mr, Moser is yet with the Shu ford drug Co., for a few weeks until they can secure a man to fill his place. Little and his bride, Miss Blanche DeLong, ; who were married in New Ger- ; many, Nova Scotia, September 9th, have arrived here to visit 1 Mr. Little's mother Mrs C. A. Salem Female Academy, the most noted girl's school in the South is to give a concert in October in honor of Signor D'An na, the musical director of Clare mont College. ' Signor D'Anna Wilt ' respond with several musical numbers. This is a rare compliment to one of the most gifted musicians in 1 the South. Hickory is certainly honored and Claremont is cer tainly fortunate in securing a teacher of such reputation. He was tax celector Highland. It is a fact the tax books now show a shortage of about $200.00 of the money al ready collected and Mr. Bolch has gone to parts unknown, he was also badly in debt and would not meet his oblicati»ns, some of his creditors have levied on his house hold goods. His wife and children have gone to their fathers to make their home.
