PEANUTS FOR HOGS. Must be Mixed YY ith Mast or Other Foods. A good deal has appeared of late in papers about peanuts as a feed fur hogs says the Washing ton Herald. Some of the mort extravagant writers going so far as to assert that hogs can be finished profitably by being turned into a peanut patch ir. the fall and letting them root their living out of the grounc with no other attention than ?. supply of water. Hog raisers who have had practical experience will not be misled by the conclusions of such lead pencil, experts, but begin ners or inexperienced hog raiser? may be fooled into making a se rious mistake. As a soft feed for hogs, pea nuts are excellent, probably bet ter even than alfalfa, as the th* peanut hay is almost as good as alfalfa, while the goobers them selves are an added element of food. But peanuts fed alone will produce soft, oily pork, which will not kill out well, nor will it be satisfactory as bacon or ham. A consignment of Agricultu ral and mechanical College hogs sent to market this year inclu ded a number which were fed almost entirely on peanuts, and these proved to be the poorest of the lot. So far the packers have shown no discrimination against the straight fed hogs, but sooner or later they will, just as they now will give much less for straight mast fed East Texas hogs than they will for any other kind. On the other hand the cheap ness of peanuts, and the ease with which they may be raised and harvested makes them too important and valuable hog feed to be overlooked. In connection with Indian maize, or even kaffir corn they are excellent, and when the ration is still better balanced with tankage the hogs will grow at an encouraging rate. When some one talks of pea nuts as the ideal hog feed, re member that there is no ideal feed for hogs. Even in the corn belt hogs must have an abun dance of green stuff, preferably clover or rape, to put on frame before they are ready for finish ing. As a frame builder peanuts, where they will grow, are ex cellent. Rich Men's Gifts Are Poor beside this: "I want to go on re cord as saying that I regard Electric Bitters as one of the greatest gifts that God has made to woman, writes Mrs. O. Rhinevault, of Vestal Center, N. Y., "I can never forget what it has done forme.'' This glorious medicine gives a woman buoyant spirits, vigor of body and jubilant health. It quickly cures Nervousness, Sleeplessness, Melan choly, Headache, Backache, Fainting and Dizzy Spells; soon builds up the weak, ailing and sickly. Try them. 50c, at W. S. Martin's, W. L. Not one so important to health. The kidneys are the filters of the blood. vVhen they fail the blood becomes foul and poisonous. There can be no health where there is poisoned blood. Backache is one of the firsf indica tions of kidney trouble. It is the kidneys' cry for help. Heed it. Doan's Kidney Pills are what is wanted. Are just what overworked kidneys need. They strengthen and invigorate the kidneys; help them to do their work; never fail to cure any case of kidney disease. Read the proof from a Hickory citi zen. Mrs. C. L. Harvin, W. Railroad St., Hickory, N. C", says: "I used Doan's Kidney Pills and was well pleased with j the results. For some time I suffered from a weakness of my kidneys and al though I used a number of remedies, I was unsuccessful in finding relief. Doan's Cidney Pills however have greatly benefited me and in view of my experience, I gladly recommend them to other kidney sufferers." For sale by all dealers. Price 50c. How One Doctor Successfully Treats Pneumonia. "In treating pneumonia" says Dr. W. J. Smith, of Sanders, Ala., "the only remedy I use for the lungs is Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. While, of course, I would treat other symp toms with different medicines, I have used this remedy many times in my medical practice and have yet failed to find a case where it has not con trolled the trouble. I have used it myself, as has also my wife for colds and coughs repeatedly, and I most willingly and cheerfully recommend it as superior to any other cough remedy to my knowledge." For sale by W. JjS Women Suffer Agonies from Diseased Kidneys And Most Women Do This Not Knowing the Real Cause of their Condition These poor, suffering women have been led to believe that their misery of mind and body is entire ly due to "ills of their sex." Usually the kidneys and bladder are re eponsible—or largely so. And in such cases, the kidneys and blad der are the organs, that need and must have attention. Those torturing, enervating sick headaches, dragging pains in back, groin and limbs, bloating and swell ing of the extremities, extreme nervousness or hysteria, listless ness and constant tired, worn-out feeling—are almost certain symp toms of disordered and diseased kidneys, bladder and liver. DeWitt's Kidney and Bladder Pills have, in thousands of cases, been demonstrated as remarkably beneficial in all such conditions of female organism—affording the most prompt relief and permanent benefit. As an illustration of what these Pills will do, Mrs. P. M. Bray of Columbus, Ga., writes that she was very ill with kidney trouble, and that she is now well —and that these Pills are what cured her.
