The Democrat enjoyed a trip
to the rifle range of the Hickory
Military Company last week as
the guest of Lieut. Claude
Keever. The range runs along
the pretty little valley of Rheine
hardt's creek, and is ideal. The
target is the latest model for
use in army practice, and re
quires the work of three men
in the pit, to shift, paste and
signal. The ranges are 200, 300
and 500 yards and the boys are
doing faithful work. They nee J
little pavilions at the shooting
points to shield them from the
sun. The county commissioners
recently gave them $l5O and the
people of Hickory and Newton
ought to take pride in. the com-,
