GREAT OPPORTUNITY
FOR THE CUSTOMER
As Result of Co-Operative Plan Be
ing Worked Out on a Large
Scale by Hickory Mer
chants.
Sometimes real opportunity
comes the way of the ultimate
consumer and one of these times
for the people of this section will
be during the -week of August
10th to August 17th when the
merchants of Hickory will offer
special bargains in every line of
merchandise.
By the plan as formerly an
nounced in The Democrat nearly
every merchant of importance in
the city is offering some special
inducements in the way of goods
and prices to the buying public.
It has, of course, created more
or less competition among the
merchants, but this is all the
better for those who have to buy,
as it will mean genuine bargains
in every line of merchandise.
Prices in many instances are
much lower than have ever been
made anywhere on standard
brands, staple and seasonable
goods.
Besides the special bargains to
be offered by the merchants,
railroad fares will be refunded to
all out-of-town customers during
this big Co-operative Sale. Un
der the plan, shoppers may dis
tribute their patronage among as
many stores as they may desire
and then coming to the Demo
crat office, will be presented with
the cash total of their fare from
their home to Hickory and re
turn. The only condition to
receiving the return of the rail
road fare is that the aggregate
purchases reach a certain small
total which will, of course, vary
for the various number of miles
traveled.
The big sale is an innovation
for the city and county and is
being promoted and arranged by
The Democrat in order to adyer
tise Hickory as the best trading
point in this section of the State.
