Officials of the Southern Railway Company and the Queen and Crescent Route expect to handle the great crowds that will visit Chattanooga for the reunion o' the United Confederate Veterans May 27-29 with the same dis patch that the normal travel through the Chattanooga Termi nal station is handled as the re sult of arrangements made at a conference of transportation, me chanical and passenger represen tatives of these lines at which it was decided to form for this oc casion a special organization sim ilar to that which accomplished su:h splendid results for the Southern Railway at Macon dur ing the reunion of 1912. Experienced ticket sellers and baggage checkers will be brought from other points, special tern porary facilities, and ample police protection will be provided, and a large number of expert passen ger men will be on hand to assist the veterans and their friends in making arrangaments for side and return trips, while special operating and mechanical forces will be detailed to assure the prompt mo /ement of trains. Especial attention has been given to the arrangements for furnishing information as to the movement of trains. For this occasion the Southern and the Queen and Crescent wiil draw t n their large organization, cover ing a great part of the United States, and will bring to the ser vice of reunion visitors the full benefit of the experience gained in handling the crowds on other similar occasions. Doan's Regnlets are recommended by many who say they operate easily, without griping and without bad after effects. 25c at all drag stores. Adv Told by a Doctor's Wife. This story is told by the wife of a physician living in a small town in central Kansas to illus trate some of the drawbacks to the medical profession, says The Kansas City Star. "We were at tending Church, something rath er unusual for us, together .with a visiting cousin and the baby, when a messenger from the tele phone office came in search of the doctor. The minister paused in his sermon until they were safely out of the church. Then the baby, who was partial to his father, became so unruly on be ing left in my charge, that I,too, was compelled to leave the ser vice, causing a second pause in the minister's discourse. Then it occurred to the cousin that he had the key to the office and that the doctor could not get his sur gical case, so he, also, left the church, requiring a third inter ruption in the morning worship "When we reached home the doctor was swinging ieisurely in the hammock. " 'Didn't you have a hurry call to an accident case or something of that sort?" demanded the un sophisticated cousin. 44 'Oh, no' replied the medical man. Just my old Swedish friend in New Gottland 'phoned to inquire if he could have a 'leetle' sugar in his coffee." - News & Observer. Wood's Seeds. Cow Peas, the great forage and soil improving crop. Summer, a traveling man of Atlanta, was knocked uncon science and robbed of $212 in i»ash at a house on the Holleman road, about a mile from Raleigh, and Sallie Dulley. a negro wom an, is held in jail pending a full investigation. The tale of the robbery as told to the police by Summer, is that he was carried to the woman's house in a hack by an unknown driver. After getting in the house the woman struck him over the head with some heavy biunt instrument, rendering him unconscious. It was then that the cash was taken from his pockets. When he he awoke he found his pockets empty. The same hack driver brought him from the place. It is said Sum ner was intoxicated. The negro woman was arrested only after a long chase in East Raleigh. When arrested she at tempted to get away from Officer Warren, but was reminded by the officer that he would use his club if she resisted. She was searched at the station house, but no trace of the missing mon ey was found. Her trunk was found in the house on Holleman road, and in it were the bloody sheets and other bedding that were on the bed at the time of the assault on the travelling men. The police say that Reuben Guoter, another hack driver, went to the house at the time of the alleged assault, but left when he heard cursing and scuffling in the hou e. Another negro, who it is said was at the woman's house at one time during the night, is wanted bv the police. - Raleigh News and Observer. Pains in the Stomach. A Pleasant Drive Is made pleasant if that splendid horse is fited with a set of those SUPERB HARNESS made by The Hickory Harness Co. A snappy appearance adds greatly to the pleasure of any drive. We offer the most nifty appearance to be had. And, this is not all, Durability is the second great feature to be found in all our goods. We strive to make every piece of goods the best that can be bought for the price anvwhere. Frequent buying of harness is an evidence of poor quality somewhere. This is not the case with harness bought of us. Low Price is the third appealing feature offered by us. We allow our selves only a very small margin of profit, endeav tin* always to keep our prices lower than our competitoi s, quality considered Hickory Harness Co. He I favors a genuine reduction of the burdens of tariff taxes, because "it means the birth of a new moral and mental life to our in* duatries." - . He expresses himself strongly as against the use of the taxing power of the government for the enrichment of the favored few. He says; . We must learn to appreciate that the man in the shop is the most valuable thing in it; that in order to be most productive the conditions which make for his Lest conservation must be pro duced and maintained. It will be no haim to the nation if abnormal profits are cut down. Public opinion will not tolerate maintaining them ht the cost ol those who toil.
