Smith of Caldwell county has a year's record of 80 hens which permitted him to sell 805 doz en eggs for $196.23 and $40.17 worth of chickens, total of $236.40. At present prices his eggs would be worth $322. A certain denizen of this prin'c shop who has nine hens has also kept a record in his head; pap er and pencil haven't been needed. In 90 days the nine hens have produced two (2) eggs, and there is every reason in the world to believe tha'c it was wholly and entirely an accident and not intentional drat 'em. Also dodgast 'em. Newton Enterprise. And a certain denizen of this shop bought him a wire fence, had a chick en house made, and purchased ten pullets a'c one dollar per along in Sep tember. He has fed them generously and they sing their content, but only five eggs have they laid during the whole winter. They won't pay in terest on 30 cents, to say nothing of $30. $100 REWARD, $100 The readers of this paper will be pleased to learn there is at least one dreaded disease that science has been able to care ii all its stages and that is catarrh. iCatarrh being greatly influenced by constitutional conditions requires constitutional treatment. Hall's Catarrh Mjedicine is taken in ternally and acts through the Blood on the Mucous Surfaces of the Sys tem thereby destroying the founda tion of the disease, giving the patient strength by building up the consti tution and assisting nature in doing its work. The proprietors have so much faith in the curative powers of Hall's Catarrh Medicine that they offer One Hundred Dollars for any case that it fails to cure. Send for list of testimonials. Address F. Charles Smith, a Baptist minister of Mechanicsville, a suburb of High Point met almost instant death yes terday afternoon about 4 o'clock while on a hunting expedition! His gun was accidentally discharged while he was attempting to cross a fence, the charge of one barrel entering his neck and causing death almost in stantly. The body was brought here shortly afterward to be prepared for burial. i i Mr. Smith was accompanied b J W, Montgomery, a merchant of Mechanicsville, and a Mr. Roberson. of the same place. Both men were near when the accident occurred and rushed to his assistance. As related by these two the accident occurred in the following manner, the man being at a point about four miles northwest of High Point. iBefore attempting to cross a rail fence Mr. Smith put his gun on the opposite side, butt down, retaining his hold of the barrel as he pro ceeded to climb over. WJhen he put his foot on a rail near the top it broke and, going down, struck one of the hamlmers of the gun, discharg ing it. His head was almost imme diately over the muzzle and the full load of shot went into his neck. 'The deceased was about 35 years of age and was quite well known in the section. In the play an Italian rake falls in love with a beautiful American girl and to win her throws her overboard and then jumps over himself to save her. These scenes are all very realistically portrayed and prove to be a stirring anti-cli-max to the picture which is excellent in all the other details of plot con struction and direction.
