It is not ne cessary for the caller to ask, "Who is that at the phone?" and after be ing courteously informed, to add, "I want to speak to Mr. Jones." The better way would be to say at flrt "I would like to speak to Mr. Jones." Many business houses in Hickory, when the phone rings, answer by say ing, "Hickory Company" or the name of the firm or company it happens to be The inquirer does not have to ascertain if M. Smith, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Shoemaker or the office boy is in the building be fore asking for the person wanted. The caller can say, 'let me speak to Mr. Jones," and get better results. Lord IJryce is speaking as a Chris tian when he says that the Turks aro nothing but robber bands settled in eastern Asia and Europe They have spent most of their time trying to exterminate' the "infidel dogs" und themselves would have been chased out of Europe long ago but for tho policy of Lord Bryce's own coun'iry. The general assembly would take a step towards universal honesty if it would ngroo to an amendment to tho constitution so that deadbeats couUl bo forced to pay their honest dobtfl. Tho carpenters and masons were lit work and under their quick, skil ful hands lumber and stone became a house. Tassersby saw in the struc ture only a dwelling place, an attrac tive little bungalow, to be sure, but no different from thousands of oth er structures of its kind Then one day an old woman, her fine cloak con trasting strangely with her tired face and her toll worn hands, came to note the progress of the artisans. With her was a young woman, and every one who saw her said that her face was so familiar Who was she? dEadn't her picture often ap peared in newspapers and magazines? Finally some one remembered and told some one else about it. The girl was one of a number of children. Her parents were poor. She went to work for a pittance while she was still a child. dt was evident that she had dramatic ability, and one day she was given a chance to show what she could do. Bhe made her dreams come true. JShe rose in her pro fession. iHer ability was recognized and awarded. lAnd then the first thing she did was to build for her mother a comfortable home1. She admitted that she was inordinately proud of the house and every one de clared that she had every right to be And they all looked at the house with new understanding, realizing that it was more than ''an attractive bungalow, but no different from oth ers of its kind." The most important organs j "Whitener Mill tract." In which .'The largest settlement in Green land has a population of less than 8001 are the stomach, heart and kidneys. The kidneys are the scavengers and they work day and night in sep-l arating the poisons from the blood, j Their signals of distress are easily j recognized and include such symp-j toms as backache, depressions, drow siness, irritability, headaches, dizzi ness, rheumatic twinges, dropsy, gout The very best way to restore the kidneys to their normal state is to drink plenty of pure water and ob tain a small amount of Anuric, which is dispensed by most every druggist. Anuric (double strength) is inexpen sive and should be taken before meals. It is much more potent than lithia and many find that Anuric dissolves uric acid as water does sugar. People are realizing more and more every day that the kidneys, just as do the bowels, need to be flushed oc casionally. The kidneys are &n elim inative organ and are constantly working, separating the poisons from the blood. Under this continual and perpetual action they are apt to con gest, and then trouble starts. Uric acid backs up into the system, caus ing rheumatism, neuralgia, dropsy, j any many other serious disturbances. It means that, you are a victim to uric acid poisoning.
