Notwithstanding the prohibition of bulb import? f:o:is to the British Isles, the Association of Dutch Bulb Grow ers reported at their recent annual meeting that the year 1916 had been generally mc.3 favorable than euner 1915 or 1914 The total export of bulbs in the principal ' c po: t months of August, September aiid October showed a decrease of 2,500,000 kilograms as compared with the corresponding pe riod of the previous year, but when it is remembered that Britain took nearly 7,000,000 kilograms in 1915 it will be seen that the loss of the Brit ish market in the past year was lar gely compensated for by increased ex port to other countries. Higher prices wer? obtained than at any time since the war began. Of the 19,000,000 kilograms in the three months named, America took 9,000 000, or r.e.irly half, Germany 5,000,000, and the Scandinavian countries, 4,000,000 kilograms The export to America and the Scandina vian countries underwent a very con siderable increase, as was the case in the previous year, whereas the ex port trade to Germany, which closed its frontiers to all. other flower gar den products remained tajtionary'. iSome concern has been caused to Dutch bulb-growers by a new nar cissus disease that is rapidly spread ing, and an expert investigator has been engaged to study the matter.
