HARDIN Hickory, N. C. THE WORLD'S BEST PHONOGRAPH THE KNABE BROS. CO. CINCINNATI.OHIQ ! American Patience Has Its Limit : New York Herald. Premier Kerensky testifies to the 1 deep interest Russia is taking: in Am erica and the eagerness of Russia to follow America's lead in an exclu- ' sive interview cabled to the Herald by Mr. Herman Bernstein from Pet rograd. "I wish," says Mr. Kerens ky, "that the great American democ racy would especially at this moment come to our assistance energetical ly." Russia, Mr. Kerensky makes c!ear, is in sore need of material and moral support from this country. He and his associates in the government are not discouraged over the outlook, but it is evident that thqy are fear ful of the possible effect upon the Russian masses of the reports of peace movements in the United States. Unquestionably it is the aim of the LaFollettes and other workers for Ger many to contribute aid to Germany in her campaign to undermine Rus- sia. Can there be any ot'J r expla nation in their persistence in talk ing peace at this time? Mr. Rus- ! sel says to them: "Every pacifist in this country who ; goes about prattling of peace, every j member of congress who introduces; a peace resolution, every senator who : is playing the German game is doing : far more harm to the United States,! to the cause of democracy, to the j ideals of his country than a million; German soldiers on the battle une , can do." ! In the past the Ameican people have i been not at all squeamish m then j dealings with those persons wno nivc endeavored to stab their country and its armies in the back. It would be well for Mr. LaFollette and his co-workers for Germany, male and female, to turn back the pages of then histories and refresh their memories concerning the treatment which Am ericans of other days accorded to to nes and copperheads and traitors.
