Miss Virginia Allen was a charming guest. The next meeting will be with Miss Mary Allen. Married in Greensboro The marriage of Mr. J. W. Mcin tosh, brother of Mr. C. E. Mcintosh of Hickory, and Miss Roselle Dit more of Wilmington occurred in Greensboro Wednesday evening. Mr. Mcintosh is a native of Denver, Lincoln county, and a son of Mr. J. C. Mcintosh, who is well known in this section. They have gont north on a wedding trip, but will be at home in Greensboro soon. The young man has many friends in this section, is successful in business and is a splendid youth. His bride has been in Y. W. C. A. work for some time. Fif teen members of the - sixth cavalry went to trial before "a court-martial at Fort Sam Houston on charges o mutiny growing out of an alleged refusal to obey an order to drill September 2o, when they were sta tioned in the Bug Bend district. Tne personnel of the court is the same as that which tried the 63 negroes of the 24th infantry for mu tiny in connection with the Hous ton riot, and Col. J. A. Hull is acting as judge advocate. It is alleged the men refused to obey the orders to drill, saying that they were worn out after a cng siege of guard duty. Business was reported active throughout the country by the federal reserve board in its monthly business summary. Industries were declared to be busy in every reserve district but corr struction work, building and en gineering was dull owing partly to the approach of cold weather and partly to the shortage of labor. Nearly everywhere the labor situ ation wTas pronounced unsatisfactory with a marked shortage of men anu 'abnormally high wages. Ban clearings increased in all districts but in New York and Minneapolis. CHARLOTTE WINS FROM WINSTON-SALEM ELEVEN Chapel Hill, Dec. 7. In a hard fought game on a muddy field the Charlotte high school defeated the Twin City high school here yester day afternoon 13 to 0, thus winning the western championship. The game was characterized by many fumbles on both sides, Charlotte, aided by the phenomenal playing oi Templeton, was able to push ovei touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters. Winston showed flash es of form and put up a stiff fight. R. Wlearn of Charlotte ' and Shep herd, Marley and Turner for Win ston, played well. Winston suf fered a great loss when Captain Crute was injured early in the game. In the second and third quarters the ball was mostly in Winston territory. At the end of the third quarter, Templeton made a spectacular run of 40 yards ar ound right end.
