Suppose you owed me a dollar

look manly of me to thrash you

We send missionaries to Turkey
to convert their people from Mo

it bespeak well of us to engagei n a
huge game of bluff i or; the , sum

government attempts to seize a
Turkish port or bombard one
she will deserve the con tempt
of the world. Yet many, leading
papers advocate this method.
It is not consistent with our pro
fessions nor is it compatible with
our greatness. If Turkey refuses
to pay this debt, and it is a just
one, let our government break
diplomatic " relations and stop
there.

India are dying like flies in a
tight room. The famine in In

tress and suffering of the famine
district will never be told. Only
four millions are receiving aid
from the government, while un
told millions are not receiving
anythingand connot receive any
thing. The means of the In

this sign there is victory. And
thus we mean to realize the great
cosmopolitan idea, upon which
the existence of the American
nation rests. Thus we mean to
fulfill the great mission of true
Americanism thus we mean to
answer the anxious question of
down-trodden humanity "Has
man the faculty to be free and to
govern himself ?" The answer
is a triumphant "Aye" thunder

It is proposed to pay Dewey
and Otis $10,000 for services
rendered on the Schurman Com
mittee. They were receiving
full pay. We ask would those
who .propose this want to pay a

who got extra pay in Cuba need
edit to live on. They all get
good salaries. They need to
live less extravagantly -say five
hu n d red dollars a year. Th ey
don't know-.-how to live is the
trouble.
Governments oughtnot to pay
extra extravagance to their em
ployees. If a man gets $2500 : a
year and wants to . spend n $3,000
he ought not to expect the people
to make good the other, $500.
English officers who make mis

Who will recall the government

Dewey holds to his candidacy
