Are you going to pui your vote in the box. Then register, and be ready. Some sav "they" ought to do this and that. Who is this follew "they" If you are for the school bonds dont wAit on "thev" but register youraen and vote. Registration books close next Saturday at 12 noon. Lincolnton school trustees have tiidied and planned for you. They know the school needs of the city. Surely you can't afford to oppose eVinrl imnrovements in keening with growing Lincolnton. The registration books close next aaiuraay . noon. , We believe the voters of Lincoln ton are going to carry the "For q,.k,,i RnnHs" election if the entire citizenship becomes aroused to their duty in the matter and register and vnia Indifference on the Dart of the friends of the issue appears to be the only thing m the way of. success, re gistration books close next Saturday at 12 noon. The school bonds to be voted on next week are for present and future school needs. The present generation pays its share and the next genera tion pays its share. Both generations will get the same benefit if you voters of Lincolnton so will it. You can af ford it if you so will. It is a matter of will you do it. Each benefits and each generation pays. That's fair. Mr. and Mrs. Voter, after all is said you decide the school bond question. The responsibility is all on the voters of Lincolnton. All of the preliminari es have been attended to by your ser vants, and they ask your approval. Register and be prepared to render your decision. Whatever you do render. Then your officials will un derstand what you want. "For School Bonds?" then register yourself, then register your family connection who can qualify, then ask your friends next door, or down the street to register and vote for school bonds, work this week for the child ren of Lincolnton. They are worth it. You want your schools to keep pace with the progress of this or any other town. Books close next Saturday at 12 noon. "They'' may not attend to it. Reg ister and vote for school bonds. Reg istration books close next Saturday 12 noon. Don't put it off. Did you ever see a town with too many school rooms a growing town we mean like Lincolnton. There is a new crop of babies here every year, and when they get about 5 years old they begin to talk about going to school next year. Lincolnton is grow ing in population and wealth. New people have moved here because school advantages were good. Hav ing outgrown its schools, the only way to get more it to vote for school bond. Have you registered? The issue is up now. There is no telling what will be up next year. Grasp the present opportunity. Always vote "For School Bonds" and there will always be plenty of room for the children to go to school. Of course it costs money nnd more taxes, but the children can't be edu cated unless the parents are willing to foot the bill. The question is are they willing. They can afford it if they so will. What do you will. Who is it that does not desire their child ren to have the best educational ad vantages obtainable. There is only one way. Vote and work for it. Our system is education by taxation. If you want better schools here vote for school bonds. Are you for education of the mass es. .Do you believe saint and sinner, rich and poor s! iuld receive public school advantages alike. There is only one way to get it. Vote for school bonds whenever and wherever the op portunity arises. You may never have another opportunity if you fail to do your duty now by registering and vot ing for $200,000 for Lincolnton schools. It is everybody's duty as a citizen to back up the schools. Don't How anything to sway you from your duty to the children. It is good busi ness to favor schools progress. The schools come first. Lincolnton has the churches, If this government of free America is ever undermined, ignorance and sin will be the cause. Vote for school bonds. See that children are educated well. One thing the people of Lincolnton to be united on they like the !s they have had since they built Koi their 'first brick school house here so well that they now want larger ones and more of them to take caiu of the growing needs of growing Lincolnton. $200,000 is just about right, a large number of them will tell you, to keep the city schools where they belong, a bit ahead of present needs. Lincoln ton is growing so fast, and new people coming in so fast to go to school that the extra tax will ruin no one. Can't dodge the issue: "Am I my brother's keeper." You are. What is good for the masses is good for all. -Educate the niasses educate them well and all problems of government will be settled intelligently and right. Register and vote "For School Bonds'' In the next generation "his mark'' will be a curiosity. Your opportunity has arrived, are you going to do your duty or are you asleep. "What can I do to help rarry the school bond election?" askcl a voter. Answer it jourself. Wha'. will you do. This is the last week of registra t it n. The books dose nex'. Saturday 12 o'clock noon. "Too much money" is the best argu ment we have heard against school bonds. But was there ever too much money invested in fire proof school buildings. It is not too much for a growing town. .If $200,000 is spent here for school buildings it will be the very cause of the town growing even faster. Think seriously about this before deciding to oppose school progress. Let us not discourage the friends of public schools, but rather encourage them. We would appeal to our people to weigh the matter care fully. It will be discouraging for the friends of education to allow "For School Bonds" to fail. A great many people seem to think that the officers should catch more blind tigers. The Record of course does not know whether liquor deal ers are being worried much or not, but it does know that if people who know anythiny about the rotten business would lend a hand the tig gers would leave these parts. Our community is what we make it. Hickory Record. 5Cgood cigarettes Tor lUc tram sack of fcfc one GENUINE Bull" DURHAM TOBACCO EDUCATION OF CHILDREN A SERIOUS RESPONSIBILITY It is Jioped that Lincolnton voters will visit the city school for themselv es, see the crowded conditions, and n?ed of equipment, and then th'nk seriously.before opposing school prog ress in Lincolnton. Towns the size of Lincolnton are spending more, than $200,000 for new school buildings Ciiffside, a mere village in compari son, has a quarter of million dollar fire proof school building.. Smithfie'd proposes to spend $200,000 for a high school building alone and $100, 000 more for other school buildings. Cherryville, our neighbor spent $80, 000 repairing a school building. It takes money, big money, but build fire proof school buildings. Lincolnton will grow and the proposed bond issue will not be too much if the towns grows, and it surely will grow; its growing every day. Think seriously and vote for the best for the children of your town. You will think well of your action in less than five years Lincoln County News. Although these are perilous times for folks to be thinking of spending $200,000 all in one jump, we can not but help think that the Lincolnton citizenry will put the election over with a whoop when it comes. The education of a city's children is too serious a matter to be neglected be cause of a small monetary considera tion. Greensboro has recently voted more than a million for schools. North Carolina is awake educationally and Lincoln county must keep step with the procession. Gastonia Gazette. "If you don't mind, sir," said the new convict, "I'd like to be put at my own trade." "That might be a good idea," said the warden. "What is your trade?" "I'm an aviator, sir."
