On the 15th, news came of the near approach of the rob r wben a Dartv of 60 men were sent to attack them. The two parties met on the following day, and the robbers were defeat t witlv considerable loss. The leader, Pena, was taken, prisoner, and immeataieiv shot, and afterwards had his head and right hand cut off. The alarm in Truxillo vas such that a number of the inhabitants sent their families and much of their property to the Isle of Ratepy. When the Helen Jane left, the town was more quiet, but apprehen sion was felt oi more difficulties. The leader find bead of the revolutionists in Honduras had been killed in battle. , Capt. Nickerson states that a meeting of the American residents of Truxillo was held previous to his leaving, at which resolutions were passed soliciting the United Otates go vernment to have a man-of-war occasionally- touch there for their protection. Iater from Mexico. New Orleans, October 12. The Steamer Orixaba has arrived with Mexican dates of the 8th. Alvarez had been elected by the college at Cuernavoca. It was first, thought that Generat La Vega would oppose his entrance into the Capi tal and that hard fighting would ensue. The latter had overthrown the civil pow ers and had refused to obey the orders of Alvarez to arrest the fugitive ministers of Santa Anna. Minnon who was superseded by La V ega had repaired to Alvarez and re turned with orders to resume the civil su premacy. The latest advices state that the troops had swornallegiance to Alvarez and that General Condc had been apointed Commander in place of La Vega removed. Alvarez had formed a Ministry with O Campo as Minister of Foreign atTaias, Co monfort Minister of War and Ivarez Minis ter of the Interior and Justice. 30,000 Allies Landed in the Crimea, RISSIAXS FORTIFYING TIIE NORTH SIDE, New York, October 10, 1855. Destructive fires had occured at Weay ersville and Grass Valley, involving a loss of $600,000 The United States Consul at Panama had struck his flag on account of an insult from the Government. The returns of the election held "yester day in this State come forward slowly. Trimble, the American candidate for Gov ernor, has received a larger vote than was generally expected, but the contest lies chiefly between Chase, Republican, and Medill Democrat. Thus far the return fa vors Mr. Chase. Cincinnati, October 11. It is conceded here that Chase, Republi can and Know Nothing, is elected by 10, 000 majority. The Democratic majority in Hamilton county is about 8,000. Cincihatti, October 11- noon, Returns from 53 counties give Chase, the Republican candidate for Governor, 9700 majority. Thirty seven counties are yet to hear from, which will probably increase his majority some 3000 more.
