Turn Table in. Operation. After 9ome unnecessary delay on account of a complaint made to the town authorities that the Railroad was using too much land around the depot, the turn table of the Seahoard Air Line is now in operation. It wa9 found that the complaint was not well founded, and the town commissioners de cided that they had no authority to interfere iii the matter. Capt. P. J. Pate, the popular agent of the Seaboard Air Line at this place has succeeded in straightening out matters and, with but little delay, tho Railroad has succeeded in having the present arrangements put into operation Thahks to Capt. Pate's energy and foresight. Fusion irvPractice for some years the township constable of North Brook has also been the deputy sheriff in that part of the county. It was the custom for the High Sheriff to i make the constable there hi9 de puty. In 1S94, the Fusionists of that township elected Jacob Bax ter constable for the township. Baxter expected to get the deputy's place, but in this he was disap pointed. This was caused by the fact that Baxter had been former ly a Democrat and was not ac ceptable to some of the Republi cans of that township. So it came about that the present De puty Hoyle secured the place and Baxter was left out. ' This "inci dent, we hear, has caused some little commotion in those parts. Fusion does not always work well in practice. The County Committee Meet. The-Democratic County Execu tive Committee met here on last Tuesday. There was a good ab tendence. A number of the town ship committeemen were here, too. The condition of the party in va rious parts of the County was dis cussed. No sentiment in favor of "bolting" was reported. The committee were a unit in favor of (.subordinating individual opinion to the will of the party. It was agreed that Lincoln county and thu State should be redeemed, and that to that end all Democrats should use their best endeavors. The meeting was harmonious and evt rybody agreed that no com promises should be countenanced. It was thought best to have two conventions, one to nominate del egates to the State Convention and one to nominate ' a County ticket. Ironton Items. Mr. and Mrs. J. Ml McGinnas, and family of Crouse, spent Sat urday night with their-eon, B. McGinnas. Capt. WVBi Summeraett passed through this place on the 21st inst. There is some talk of a depot being erected at Lick Skilet, a little town on the Carolina Cen tral Railroad. The Carolina Central has made all stations, which are without telegraph offices, -flag stations. Most of the people from this place are taking in court this week. Mrs. Mary Troutman is quite sick. - Ironton has some of the Seven Day Adventists, who keep Satur day instead of Sunday. Mrs. N. A eaver is visiting friends at and around Cherry ville. Mr. James Hambric spent Tues day in Lincolnton. The farmers through this, sec tion are preparing for planting. jCott on see ins to be the leading crop. Mr. H. P.
