His home was know n as the "orphan asylum." He first settled at the Ingram place, which lay about one-fourth of a mile southwest of old Kehobeth church. His dwelling and stables and a good horse all went up in the names, no then built a tunc log cabin, about one-fourth of a mile north of the Walkup mill site, and lived in it until he got upon his feet again. Henry Clay was defeated time and again for the presidency, but today he stands on the ladder of fame with Webster and Calhoun. II. C. Walkup. called "Clay" by we school boys, volunteered in Com pany B, 2fth North Carolina regi ment, while in his Urns, lost his right arm at (iettvsburg, graduated at the Medical College of New York, and today is a practicing physician at Mcintosh, Fla. He was "Uncle Bobbie'a" youngest son. (The author makes a slight error in one particular. Col.
