Some people believe in this doctrine, and some believe that it is worth something to know exactly what they are buying. There is no way to be sure of the goods you buy. unless the manufacturer guarantees them. A manufac turer ca.nr.ot guarantee his goods unless he has some distinctive way to iden tify them. Hence the Brand. It is especially important to know what sort of fertilizer you use, because having once put it in the ground, you have no way of correcting a mistake un til all the mischief is done. Then you discover that you raise only half a bale of cotton where a whole bale should have grown. Your Family Suffers because you thought you could buy some Acid Phosphate, Kainit, and cotton seed meal, and mix them yourself, and save Paying for the Brand. The manufacturer, who expects to stay in business, must make good goods, Prices Profitable to the Purchaser. He puts his brand on the package, he guarantees the contents, and he must have means for knowing that every package is just like every other package. Thirty Children and Home Burned Down. Btlua Butt. I-. Stw i lrtl. Mr. S. A. Dunn, a resident of the third ward, is beyond doubt the greatest opponent of race suicide there is in this section of the coun tryor any other section, for that matter. Mr. Dunn is forty-nine years of m vet h i th fathor nf thirtv "r't - " I .1.- .1 J . .1 . t cnuuren, me owesi vi wnom is twenty-five years of age, while the youngest is an infant. I Of these thirty children there are eleven pairs of twins. I Mr. Dunn has been three times married, there being twelve children as a result of the first marriage, aT.or.g which are three sets of twins. His second wife bore hi;n ten chil dren, there being four pairs of twins. His third wife, who bore him no twins, made up the deficiency by pre ' seating him with eight fine, husky children, running the total for Dunn 1 up to thirty. Aud the best part of it all is that every one of them is alive and well. ! In addition to having to play Santa (. laus to thirty pairs or stockings, Mr. Dunn had the misfortune on last Friday to have his bouse burned down, and the entire contents de stroyed. Mr. Dunn is not only a population increaser, but is a hustling and in dustrious American citizen, and it will take more than a boll weevil, a fire and eleven pairs of twins to keep him down. Mr. Dunn's slogan is: "The more the merrier." Two Boys Shoot Off a To Each. MrhTtlI Horn. Mr. Rommie Griffin returned to Norman Park, Ga., last night, accom panied by Messrs. The toe was so badly mangled that it had to be amputated. Mr. J. F. Smith of Lanes Creek township killed a hog just before Christmas that weighed 403 pounds. If a farmer were to go to the store and buy such a hog as that he would probably decide, after making a big hole in a bale of cotton to pay for it, that it is cheaper to raise meat at home. Son of Richest Man in the World Heads Jury ftaklat; Investiga tion of Traffic in Women. Sw York Dttpurh.Mli. John D. Rockefeller, Jr., is fore man of a grand jury sworn in today charged especially with the task of inquiring into the traffic in women, with a view either to a rigid prose cution or an end to sensational slan ders against New York. The district attorney began a similar line of in quiry. He assigned a special assist ant to examine witnesses and in a statement tonight he urees that the public come forward with any and all evidence that such traffic exists. He asks that this evidence be given not only to hi eflice, but to the grand jury and the courts also. The district attorney intimates that prominent men in tho city not only endorse the investigation, but stand ready to aid him in more sub stantial ways. In his address to the grand jury directing that the white slave traffic be thoroughly investigated, Judge O'Sullivan said: "The main object which I desire you to keep in mind throughout the investigation is the uncovering, not alone of isolated offenses, but of an organization, if any such exist, for a traffic in the bodies of women. The law's machinery is at your command. The wealth of this opulent city is at your call. The sympathy and senti ment of its law-abiding citizens are with you. "Your inquiry should not be sat isfied by any half-way answer. If organized traffic in women exists in this city, the law is adequate to end it and punish the persons engaged. If such traffic does not exist, your inquiry should end forever the sen sational slanders against the city of New York." Did 'Squirt Joe Richardson Tell You? Wtihaw Enterprise.
