Lipe, the present demonstrator of farm methods for the county. Miss Vivian Is shown riding a culti vator, running around her patch of new corn. She is only 13 years old. Miss Ethel Smith, aged 15, of Pridgeport, and Miss Emma Pickler, uged 12, of Route 1, New Loudon, are also cultivating an acre each. We hope to have an account of each one of these young ladies be fore the contest is over. Miss Lipe first hired a man to break up her land with a Chattanoo go N'0. 64 3-horse turn plow. Pil lowing this, she did all the work herself, using a 3-horse double disc harrow over the land, then replow ing; then she used a section har row, finishing with the double disc. The land wa3 plowfd to a depth of S or 10 Inches, and the surface was made nice and smooth. Four hun dred pounds of acid phosphate and loo pounds of potash were strewn over the land by a wheat drill, and six 2-herse loads of stable manure were broadcasted. H. Garland s residence. They spoke to the negro, threaten ing to take him to the lock-up, ami the result or the conversation was the shooting of the negro bv one of the boys. The negro lived un til Sunday night and before dvlng told Magistrate McCaskill that "one of the hoys shot him, but that he could not tell which. The boys, we understand, admit that they' were drinking. They came down Monday and surendered to the sheriff and on Wednesday morning gave bond anl returned home.
