A one-week terra rf the Superior Court for the trial of criminal cases was begun by Judge Shaw yester day, nnd will finish Its work this afternoon or tomorrow. Only two caseg were tried yesterday Henry Keno, charged wl;h cruelty to ani mals, to-wlt ithe murder of one dog belonging to J. E. Little. It haa been tried In a magistrate s court once, in the Recorder's court once, and in the Superior court twice Oscar Crockett shot the dog and Keno put cn the finishing touches with an axe. The defense claimed that they thought the dog was niad. Both were tried at the Octobrv term, and the jury split, six to six. In the mean time Oscar moved to South Carolina, and Kc.no Is ex- honoratcd. Fred Stafford, charged with obtaining goods under false pretense from . P. Harm, was ac quitted. E. F. Belk. who moved from Dufnrd township near Allan to King's Sloun tain, two years ngo, departed this life March 11th, at 1.15 o'cclcck a. m., after a lingering illna?s cf threo weeks with pneumonia. She bore her suffering with great for titude nnd patience. She leaves a husband, six children, mother, fa ther and three sisters to mourn her. We trust their loss U her gain. SIcA doo, and Sliss Eleanor Wilson, young est daughter of the president. Miss Wilson is 24 years old and Mr. Sic Adoo 52, and a widow with several children, some of them married. He Is a native of Georgia.
