There are no bloody battlefields to be looked after now but the work of the Red Cross has lieen increased lather than lighten ed by i he condi'ioiis brought about by the recent wat. Also it has brought to light the fact that we as a nation need to look to the health of our people at home tspeciailv the children. -Judcing by articles re cently published this phase of the work will receive especial attention. The fact that the draft showed up so many of our men physically until cauned us to realize that as a race we have considerably degenerated from our rugged, healthy forefathers. There is no excuse for this condition to continue in this enlightened agp, We should begin to give our children the same careful attention we give our hogs, cows and automobiles; they are really worth as much. The phy sical capacity of our nation should be brought up to equal its menial ca parity. The only way to do it is to begin with the children. The Red Cross would be worth supporting if it undertook no other work than this.
