Carolina Ileach is located within
a lew miles of Wilmington, a city of
Thirty-six thousand souls, situated on
the Cape Kear River and North Caro
lina's chief seaport. With river de
velopments well under way, new
freight rates established that place
the city on a parity with New York
and other North Atlantic Torts, and
additional steamship companies ready
to come In, those who know Caro
lina Teach e? a wonderful future for
the resort.
The Carolina Beach Railway Com
pany was organized and chartered for
the' purpose of building a Railway
linking Carolina Beach with Wil
mington. Many of th" leading busi
ness men in this S'Vtio i. men who are
on the ground and know conditions,
have become Interested In the pro
ject. Sentiment in the community Is
wholly with the Carolina Beach Rail
way Company. Expressions of ap
proval are heard on every hand be
cause it is realized that a mainland
beach, easily accessible by trolley, is
the one thing lacking in the communi
ty, and in North Carolina. The ac
complishment of this will naturally
turn everyone towards Carolina
Beach because It will be much safer
than any other reaort on the South
Atlantic.
The. close proximity of Carolina
Beach to a city with the natural ad
vantages possessed by Wilmington,
makes the enterprise far more Im
portant and valuable. Wilmington 1s
only thirty miles from the sea and
has a splendid harbor with a channel
sufficiently deep to permit easy pass
age of giant ocean-going freighters.
Vast Quantifies of cotton ana
exnort nroducts are shipped
this port to the four corners of the
globe.
Carolina Beach's real asset is It
climate. It has been compared by
eminent physicians with the climate
of Nice and other Mediterranean
Ports and the Resort could be easily
operated the year round.
Bald Head Island, located a little
to the southwest of Carolina Beach,
Is as tropical as Florida and the cli
mate In Wilmington, the nenrest city
of Importance, Is unusually mild
throughout (he winter, permitting
outside work at all seasons of the
yenr and affording harbor that is Ice
free the year round
The development, and successful
opera t ion of the Trolley line to Caro
lina Beach Is a matter whlrh concerns
rvrry true North Carolinian and
should be a matter of Slate pride In
whlrh everyone should wish to participate.
