Only a few members were. of the school in general is so badly isent, but they showed great inter-! needed, and this organization en est and enthusiasm in the work which deavors to brine this about. But if the association plans to do. All were the parents are not interested In the a creed that this Is a very important school life of the children enough to organization, and ways and means were discussed of getting more pa rents interested. It is a sad commen tary that more teachers attended the meetings last year than parents, and the question was raised, "Are the teachers more interested In our chil dren that the parents?" Co-operation with the teachers and the work attend the meetings. It will not be a success. There is no reason why ev ery parent should not belong, and even if the fathers cannot attend, the mothers can. and it is their duty to fall in line and make a thorough suc cess of this great work. There are no dries except ten cents per year, which entitles us to membership in the State Federation. At the meeting yesterday Mrs. A. M. Stack, the pres ident, presided. The meeting was opened th prayer by Dr. Uurney. Crowell suggested that we have a detinue subject for discussion, and a prepared program, and this was left with t!ie program committee, consist ling of Mertlauie Roscoe I'hifer. C. K. ! Houston and J. F. Laney. She also suggested that we fix up the chapel i Eidiimiar srnoui ana inane it more attractive by using pictures, and the United States and North Carolina flags. "How can we leach patriotism and Invalty when our children do not even know what our state flag looks like?" she said, "and neither do they know the names or the faces of our great men of the South." Another suggestion wa Mint the Parent-Teacher Association be responsible for chapel exercises once a month. Dr. (i'.ir.uy suggested tl..;t t'.ie Ministers of the town h-ve a definite time for conducting t'-e chap. I exercises and not ie calle.: ii in a haphazard wav as has been '-. - case heretofore. An other very Important matter was brought up ; t the meeting, and that was the immoral conditions in our town and courtly. A Charlotte paper' a few days a so gave an account of1 conditions in Mecklenburg saying that the country church yards were being used for inn. .oral purposes. It has been reported to a minister of our town that the school house at Lee park v :s being used in the same way, and lie thonsht the matter should be reported to the county su perlntend"U so that he could have the officer out a sto;i to it. A com mittee rotti-bting of Mesdames V. C. Crowell, Ki'cne Ashcraft and X. M. Rerifeam vas appointed to report to Prof. Fiin.lerburk. It was decided to give a reception to the teachers im mediately following the opening of l lie schooN. This matter was put in the hands of : committee of three, Mesdames J. . Stewart. C. M.
