THE PRESENT ROAD COMMISSION Reason anil justice shouM; prompt the average voter who has the In-st interest of good roads in the county at heart to so cast his vote as to secure the continuance in oftice of the pres ent road commission. Statistics as presented and adopted at the recent mass meeting in the shape of a brief report of the work of the com mission, show that the present commission has been construct ing road economically, at about one third less the cost than the former commission, and that the present commission has Urn wrongfully subjected to a good deal of criticism at the hands .'i person who knew nothing about their work and would not take the trouble to inform them seiws concerning it. The commission is chosen by the ten members of the Koad Electorate, one member from each of the nine townships of the county and one at large. This Commission is composed of three men. the present commis sion consisting of J. D. McUae. J. X. Price, ami T. G. Collins. Suppose an entirely new elec torate is chosen. Who will be chairman? Will he be asom petent a man as is McRae? The elector at large is not the chair man unless he is elected such by the members of the electorate. Who will be secretary? Will he be as competent as Price? No luvly knows. The present commission has well in its hands the work of construction and is familiar with all the details. They have Ven sawing wood, saying nothing and saving money. They have mapped out a systematic plan of construction in the various townships of the county on which work is well under way. Make any changes, and what will happen? Will the new com mission continue the work so well begun or will they make changes to suit their individual ideas in accordance with pre election promises? The causo of good roads and the enormous amount of money tied up in present construction is too important to be made a political foot-ball. Let's not swap horses in the middle of the stream.
