Beasley, of Goldsboro, de livered the literary address. He made one of the best speeches for the oc casion that has ever been heard at this school, according to correspond ence from there. "His subject was Annlied Education." and he splendid ly illustrated his theories on what edu cation should be, emphasizing the fact that education was not training, as we give the dog or horse; that it was not wisdom or an accumulation of facts or knowledge, but to know when and how to act at the moment in the crisis of life, and how to deal with the many problems that confront the individuals in lite. He called atten tion to the fact that we teach too many facts in our schools, and do not stress the necessity for an industrial education that is application to the real needs of our boys and girls when they are thrown into the busy line of industry, to combat the lie problems for themselves. His address was praised greatly by all who heard it Houses to let at a high rent are houses to let alone. SEE GULLEDGE & SN'YPER for Purina, the best dairy feed and laying mash.
