Bryan is a great reasoner, he is not an atheist, or a deist, but he is a political fanatic and is using all of his great talents to under mine and destroy the confidence of the American people, in the greatest President, tlie most patriotic prefident, tliis country I has Known since the days cf_ George Washington, and he is doing it for none other than fcr selfish purposes. CORRESPONDENCE We wish correspondents in all the nearby post office?. Write at onop THURSDAY, NOV. 25 191S Of the 32 pages of Mr. Bryans Commoner of November’s issue quite 26 pages of it is devoted to opposition to prepardness, much of it contributed by Mr. Bryan. Much of the argument used to to sustain his position is good, and would catch an ordinary mind. But Mr. Bryan takes one side of a great question, and then reasons it out, according to his way of looking at it. But there is nothing new or strange in that, Mr. Bryan has a motive and it is much deeper than his opposition to prepardness. He wants something, and at present Mr. Wilson Las that something, if he can destroy Mr. Wilson he hopes to get that something, at a day not far distant. We shall hope that Mr. Bryan will be de feated in his scheme, which is none other that political. Voltair was a great loerician, a great reasoner, so was Hume, so was Tom Payne, so was Bob Ingersal. These were all atheist, or deist and did much to hurt the Christian religion. William J. It is a deplorable thing that a man like ex Governor Patterson should succeed by election to the seat in the Senate made vacant by Luke Lee of Tennessee. Luke Lee is an all around good man, Patterson is an all around bad man. Patterson conspired at the murder of Carmack, and it was Patterson as Governor of Tennessee who placed in the hands of ('armack assassins a pnrdon eyc'ii before they were convicted of the murder, the pardon to take effect just as soon the court sentence took etfect. Patterson w;is the avowed friend of the Whiskey Element, until Patterson became convinced that there was nothing in it for him. The German people have pro ven, accept for a siiijlit vaneer that civilizutioii a»4d barbarism a>*e elahniiig close kinship with them. A nation professing the highest cuilure of any on earth, and yet the most brutal, the most barharious, not only the most barbarious but the most dishonoral)i(\ The most brutal tyrants, the most servile cring ing cowards wh^n \ieaten. Germany is not in this war to defend ojie foot of her teritory from aggression, from trespass, but she is in it as an invader, an intruder, :i. land pirate. And we are told she doe^i not only appropriate teritory when she criminaiy conquers it without excuse, but that she sweeps the teritory bare of everything val uable. When her army left near Paris and retreated to the French border, fortifying her army on Frence soil, h^r men proceeded to take from the mills and factories all valualjle mach inery and remove thpin to Gsi- many, and th»s has been the case with eveiv country they have invaded. Ncr is this the whole f>f their infernal shame, they have gone into private resi dences, and lakcn from them ever'^thing of value, whethe:* jeArelry, silvarware, costly tapes- t' ies, and even furniture. And ' the system is so frevelent that j even the Emporer’s son has I been accused of it. And this is t’le nation that VV. J. Bryan! j seems to give his sympathy too, I for \vl en he tactily encourages I the eiv’inent that destroys our powcie • miiis, and our factories, hat eise ish doin.u? $10.00 REWA A revyard of $10.00 will be paid for evidence that will lead to the ar rest and conviction of any one taking or re moving weed or timber from our lands.
