Jail.
On Thursday night of last
week a Pederal prisoner by
the name of Rector attempted
to make his escape from jail

ceeding, but Jailer Lane was
a little too sharp for him.
Mr. Lane about 2o'clock heard
a pecking noise in
of Rector's cell and suspected
something was wrong. On
going into the jail yard he
discovered a man's legs
protruding from a hole in the
wall. Presently Rector came
swinging down bv blankets.
When he got about half way
down Mr. Lane halted him, in
the meantime faring a pistol
into the air and commanding
Rector to go back the 'way he
came; but. Rector nervously
declared that he could not,
and came on down into the
jailer's arms and was taken
back in the jail and locked in
a catre. Jailer Lane found a
razor in one of Rector's over
coat pockefeK.
