Rev. R. M. Taylor and son, of Weaverville, N. C, spent several days in town and vicinity since con fere nee visiting their many relatives nd ti lends. Mr. layloi preached Sunday morning at Central church to a good sized congregation. Ilin discourse- was instructive and was delivered with power. He has always preached well, but the ser mon Sunday was an abie effort, and we ar soiry wo are not situated so as to sco and hear him oftener. He is very earnest and Ik greaiy inter ested in his wotk. Ho jfoes back to Weaverville determined to bring in a better report next year than l.e did this j ear, if it is possible. Take Harrincss to Others. If wo wish to be amiable we must never allow our particular moods or whims or our troubles to come oul for an airing ; we have no right to draw on a lriuud's or an acquaint ance's tolerance in this resptet. If we are amiable wo will never show that wo have a grievance, but wo will go into the presence of onr friends with the joy of life : wo will give, light and pleasure wherever we go. Dj not be afraid to give gen erously of yourself. Whatever you do or say for the amnscmont or good of another, do it, say it in a bright, cheerful manner; we may by one little word or act, or even a smile, awaken a discouraged soul to the fact that there is something in life worth living for. How we all draw near these loving hearts that scatter broadcast seeds of cheer ful- ues and feel their subtle influence. They are constantly making all around them hapiiy ; even those that are poor, whose lives are full t poverty, pain and suffering, are made to teei that lite holds some sunshine for them when this amiable friend spends au honr with them. it we want happiness to come to u we mu6t take happiness to others.
