Lee Trinkle, Governor of the Com
monwealth of Virginia, besides a
host of other State officials from
Raleigh. Richmond and other pointsy

Ftor many months the Kiwanis
Club of Mount Airy, composed of
business men of our city, has been
very active la the work of enthusing
the people of this section on the
subject of good roads. Recently the
Club has made visits to Stuart, Va.,
and Sparta with the end in view of
getting Mount Airy oonnected up
with these two places with a system
of good roads. Along about the
same time the Club seat a delegation
composed of i. B. Sparger and A. V.
West to Richmond, Va., to interview
the State Highway Commission of
Virginia and interest them in a
State highway across the mountain
iato North Carolina. And at aba oat
every meeting of the Club some

undertook the talk of "patting over"
one of the greatest good roads meet
ing ever held in North Carolina or
Virginia. It was known from the
beginning that the membership would
be satisfied with nothing less than
• great meeting. To gat the proposi
tion on the proper footing a commit
tee was toamed to confer with the
Governors of the two. states relative
to their attending this gathering.
This committee consisted of 8. P.
Graves, J. H. Folger, D. E. Hoffman,
Dr. Moir 8. Martin and G. C. Lovfll.
And so this committee has arrang
ed for the coming to Mount Airy of
the leading 8tate officials of both
North Carolina and Virginia to take
part in the good roads rally hers
Saturday, Oct. 21st.

Governor Trinkle and his party ar
rive* at the State line Friday after
noon a committee composed of E.
H. Kochtitaky, J. D. Sargent and H.
M. Foy accompanied by Governor
Morrison will meet him there, when
the Governor of North Carolina will
welcome the Governor of Virginia
into our Stat^
This part of the program la a|
feature that perhap* has never oc
curred In any place in the nation. It
is expected that several thousand
people will gather at the litUe white
post on the Fancy Gap road, which
mark* the imaginary line between
the two states, and be witnesses to
that memorable oecaaion, when the
Governors of two great states meet,
shake hands and pledge each other's
support in the furtherance of pro
gressive measures affecting the two
statea.

A Tour Of Surry's Roads
On Saturday morning a committee
composed of J. P. Yokley, J. B.
Sparger, and J. W. Lovill wilt head a
large delegation which will accom
pany our visitors over the roads of
this section. The party will make
trips to Dobson, Brim and Lowgap.
In making this tour of Surry County
the committee has so arranged it that
federal, state and county roads wlfi
be traversed which will afford our
visitors a fair example of the kind of
roads we have in this section.

Revival Services Close At
First Baptist Church
The revival services closed Sun
day with three powerful sermons bj

dress in the afternoon was especiallj
effective. His Jennnciations of evo
