Below we publish a let ter from one of our subscribers of the roan try who asks some questions about how this latest ordinance oper ates: "Editor The News: I notice in your issue of May 22 th« latest law or the town in regard to dogs I wish to say in reply that I know of a person having some dogs which he values at $60 each, and who lives outside the city limits. One of these does when it rets loose go** di rect to Mount Airy and the city au thorities have no way of identifying it. H looks like the authorities would be doing the owner an injustice to catch up his dog and impose a f"S on him or dispose of his dog wfern they did not Know who to notify. Seems asifthe County Commissioner* would make a ruling to furnish every dog owner who given in his dog fot taxation a collar and number and keep a record of the owner in the Sheriffs office so they could immed iately look up his record snd notify the owner by mail or in person; then if he did not keep his dog at home they wn«ld he Justified in making him nay a fine or dispose of his dog if E- failed to redeem It r.
