Report of Dr. H. A. Oorham of the
Surry County Health department for
the month of June shows 35 cases of
contagious diseases In the county,
chlckenpox IS. scarlet fever IS. whoop
ing cough 7 and diphtheria 1.
Typhoid vaccinations were complet
ed for 4312 and diphtheria vaccina
tions completed for 903. whooping
cough vaccinations completed for 7u
Nine treatments were administered for
venereal diseases with one new case.
Two prisoners were examined, two for
marriage license. 14 for child Industry.
3 for admission to Institutes. 7 for 1' re
extension, and 34 food handlers. Nine
specimens were sent to the Stat?
laboratory. One examination was made
lor tuberculosis.

examinations were made.

in the performance of his duties and
attended 11 conferences. Miles report

The department of maternity and
infancy registered 30 caaes; prenatal

home conferences were held, infant 9.

ferences were held with mid-wives In
which they were Instructed In a six
hour course.
Eight hundred two were Immunised
against diphtheria. 30 against small
pox. 804 against typhoid and 60 against
whooping cough.

dren examined during the clinic held
In April and May was 464. of this num
ber 334 were found to have a total of
600 defects.
Two hundred nineteen had defective
teeth. 238 had diseased tonsils. 34 has
basal and mitral heart murmurs. 8 de
formities. 30 suffered with bronchitis
or asthma. 38 were not properly nour
ished. 41 had phllmosls. 4 thyroid hland
trouble. 3 rupture and • defective eyes.
Fifty three infants were examined
and the clinics were attended by a to
tal of SOT which Included 187 parents.
